Gas Grill Safety Tips

Propane tank explosion aftermath

The image above is why you should never store a propane tank indoors.

Grill safety is something that you rarely think about because most of it is fairly basic. Grilling may even be safer then cooking indoors, however it is the greasy nature of the food cooked outdoors that will cause a lot of your safety concerns.

Always keep the bottom tray and grease catch pan of your gas grill clean and free of debris, this will help prevents grease fires.

Always use long handled grill tools and/or grill gloves to prevent burns.

If a flare-up should occur, turn all burners off and move food to another area of the cooking grate. Flames will quickly subside. Then you may light the grill again.

Do not use water to extinguish a grease fire.

Do not line the bottom tray with foil. This may prevent the grease from flowing into the grease catch pan.

Place your grill in an area that is away from children and pets.

Keep your lid closed if you have any activity around your grill (party etc).

Allow your charcoal ash to cool completely before removing it from your grill

Close the main valve of your propane tank after each use.
