Weber Grill Grate Cleaner Review

Our Weber grill grate cleaner review came about after seeing how dirty our kettle grills grates were. Typically I would use an oven cleaner on the stainless steel then I thought that this would make a nice follow up article to our review of the Weber exterior grill cleaner. That and I found it on sale. You can find Weber grill cleaning products just about anywhere Weber products are sold.

The Instructions on this are pretty straight forward: Liberally apply to your grill’s cool cooking grates and other areas soiled with grease. Allow cleaner to penetrate the grease for approximately one minute. Remove heavy buildup and grime with Weber Grate Grill Scrubber or Weber Grill Brush. Wipe clean with a wet paper towel. Repeat as necessary. Always turn nozzle to “OFF” position before storing.

The first test in our Weber grill grate cleaner review is on the stainless steel grill grates of our kettle grill.

I spray a liberal amount over the greasy area and can see the cleaner foaming as it hits the grates. After waiting the recommended minute the white foam is almost all gone.

We take our grill brush and after the first pass you can begin seeing the metal of the grates. I am impressed. A couple of more passes and the majority of the stainless is showing. Never have I been able to clean a grate in this condition fully on the first try. So this did a grate job (see what I did there?). As recommended we wiped them down with a wet paper towel when we were finished. Surprisingly the paper towel was able to remove even more grease.

If at first you don’t succeed.

So, I apply a second coat, scrub with our grill brush. The grates still had some build-up on them. When starting with grease this caked on that is to be expected. The edges are still rough. The primary grilling surface is nice and clean. I am sure that when we remove the grate I could easily clean up the edges.

The second test:

Is on the porcelain coated cast iron grates on our Weber gas grill. These aren’t as nasty as the stainless grates. But because there is some grease build-up and a couple of spots with stuck on food. So we follow the same routine as we did with cleaning our stainless grates. The results were just as impressive.

After cleaning the grates on both grills we burned off any excess cleaner that got into the body of the grill. As an added bonus it also cleaned our grill brush head.

Weber grill grate cleaner review bottom line:

There are very few products out there that impress me as much as this one did. It was easy to use and did exactly what it was supposed to do. It looks as though this would be great for cleaning the body of your grill as well. I can highly recommend this product. Whether you what to clean your grates everyday or just occasionally to get the really heavy gunk off!

You can find the Weber grill grate cleaner wherever Weber grill products are sold or online at Amazon (link below). Typically it can be had for under $5.
